Lastly, water lilies are something special because the fruit they produce can also be eaten. In many places such as India, children usually eat the stems and flowers of this plant as well.
Also, in countries like Mexico, Nicaragua, and El Salvador, indigenous communities have revered Water Lilies and they thought they were a sacred symbol of the earth that was sent out by the gods and goddesses.
Water lilies have, more specifically the ones with white petals, can also be used to reduce swelling of sensitive areas, such as the eyes and mouth. This can be used externally, and it also helps reduce sores, bruises, and any other type of inflammation a person can have.
